DEW

What is dew? Dew is moisture condensed upon the surfaces of cool objects especially at night. As the exposed surface cools by radiating its heat, atmospheric moisture condenses at a rate greater than that at which it can evaporate, resulting in the formation of water droplets.radiatingcondenses evaporate When temperatures are low enough, dew takes the form of ice; this form is called frost (frost is, however, not frozen dew). frost

Namib Desert Beetle lives in SW Africa faces into the wind and sticks its rear end in the air fog condenses on its bumpy shell and the drops role down into its mouth

Hygrometer

A Dry Day… A lot of moisture will evaporate, cooling off the wet bulb thermometer. The wet bulb temperature drops. 8°C 20°C Difference between wet bulb & dry bulb is 12 °C. (20 – 8 = 12)

A Humid Day… Since the air is humid, only a little moisture can evaporate. The wet bulb will not be much cooler than the dry bulb. 14°C 20°C Difference between wet bulb & dry bulb is 6 °C. (20 – 14 = 6)

Use the chart the same way as you used the Relative Humidity Chart.

The temperature to which air must be cooled for liquid water to form (condensation occurs). Dew point indicates how close the air is to saturation (holding its maximum). Dew point determines when precipitation occurs.

Air conditioners cool the air but they also dehumidify it, which makes us feel cooler. Drip extension tubes can sometimes be seen on the outside. They direct the discharge to the ground and avoid ruining the exterior of the home, which has happened here.

If Dew Point = Air Temperature then precipitation will occur If the Dew Point is less than 0° C then it will snow. If the Dew Point is more than 0° C then it will rain.
