What is Test Tube Baby? The baby who are born through the fertilization of eggs and sperms in laboratory are Test Tube Baby.

Sir Robert Geoffrey Edwards was the pioneer of the test tube baby and was awarded Nobel prize for it in 2010. Louise Joy Brown was the 1 st test tube baby born in 1978. Nowadays there are more than 5 million test tube baies born. Israel has the highest rate of IVF in the world, with 1657 procedures performed per million people per year. Average cost of total treatment $10,000 - $25, 000 (American dollars). This Industry generates almost $2 billion per year.

Ovarian Hyperstimulation The ovary is stimulated to produce more eggs to have better birth success rate.

Collection of Eggs and Sperms Sperms and eggs are collected from the father and mother respectively for further procedure.

Co Incubation In normal case sperm and egg are incubated together for 1-4 hours or in case of low sperm count a sperm is injected into the egg.

Embryo Culture Fertilized embryo is cultured for 2-4 days until cleavage phase and thus proceeded to the next phase.

Embryo Selection The laboratory has some method to determine the quality of the fertilized embryo for higher pregnancy rate.

Embryo Transfer or Implantation Then the best embryo with highest quality is implanted inside ovary.

Adjunctive Medication Some medicines are used for increasing the success rate of the implantation and some other benefits.

ADVANTAGES OF IVF AND TEST TUBE BABY IVF helps patients who would be otherwise unable to conceive. IVF is more successful than IUI and other forms of assisted reproductive technology. IVF can help to diagnose fertilization problems. It can be used to screen for inherited disease.

DISADVANTAGES OF IVF AND TEST TUBE BABY An IVF cycle may be unsuccessful. There may be associated side effects. Multiple pregnancy. IVF treatment can take an emotional/psychological toll. IVF treatment can be expensive. Some patients may be concerned about ethical issues.

Pre implantation genetic diagnosis or screening. Profit desire of the industry. Pregnancy past menopause. Same-sex couples, single and unmarried parents. Anonymous donors. Discarding unwanted embryos. Religious response. Society and culture

Conclusion Having so many issues, advantages & disadvantages, the test tube baby is still a way to continue generation for some people who being unable still is blessed with children. This ultimately leading to a better situation and a happy life for many families in the world.
