HALF TERM: You are expected to complete any work started in lessons to the best of your ability. Collect 10 excellent quality, PRIMARY visual resources and print out on A4. Spend time over the week taking photographs of buildings, details, different styles of architecture ready for your projects to become more personal and higher quality. You must also find 2 artists of your own choice to research, with a connection to the theme. Print off images of the work. Collect images of their work and produce work in response to the style of these artists – collect paper from Art 1 in advance. Try looking on Pinterest – this is a great starting point for research and will provide you with LOTS of lovely images. EASTER HOLIDAYS: You MUST complete all outstanding work for your exam portfolio. You must complete 3 sketches of potential compositions for final piece ideas. (Like you did for your ‘Face’ projects..) 1 piece could be a collage of your photographs like you did as a starting point for your last final piece, including lots of notes to explain ideas/ materials/ techniques. The other 2 should be full A4 page sketches of compositions that you could use for final pieces. After Easter, you will be developing these into a finished piece of planning work ready for your FINAL EXAM!!! EASTER HOLIDAYS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

The design should have connections to prep work, all images relevant and original, and demonstrating a degree of observational accuracy. Materials and techniques used will be tested to achieve required outcomes, and will have a connection to at least 2 artists explored in prep work. EXPERT: Using planning work completed over Easter, pupils will develop 1 high quality, refined piece of planning work, demonstrating a clear and sound understanding of A02:REFINE. The design should have clear and strong connections to prep work, all images purposeful and original, and demonstrating a high level of observational accuracy. Materials and techniques used will be tested and explored as necessary to achieve required outcomes, and have clear connections to at least 3 artists explored in prep work. WEEK BEGINNING 25 TH APRIL 2016 GCSE EXAM 2016 Final Piece PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

The exam structure: The exam will take place during the week beginning 25 th April 2016. You will complete the work to create your planned final piece during this time in a total of 10 hours. This will take place in your normal art room under strict exam conditions i.e.: no talking, MP3/mobile phones ILDs, toilet breaks etc. You will be removed by welfare managers if required. You will get normal break and lunchtimes. You will get NO help from your teacher during the exam time. GCSE EXAM 2016 Final Piece PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE How to have a successful exam: Don’t be late! Plan and prepare well: bring what you need, arrive on time and set up Have a clear idea what you want to achieve each lesson Make sure resources needed are available – photos. Use every moment: don’t watch paint dry! If you complete the piece early check back over the project and complete/upgrade anything you can- a mark can change a grade! Help and support: Use every moment available and get extra marks by coming to after school sessions to work on your portfolio. Remember that this Exam counts for 40% of your total mark!!!!! Get every last mark you can from every objective.
