2 Good Health Habits - Brushing teeth to save your heart - Washing hair and not sharing combs, brushes or hair accessories to prevent spread of germs like lice - Eating healthy, well balanced meals, Breakfast is champion! - Sleep: What does it help? What does it prevent? Why does it matter? - Exercise: How often? What to do? - Hand hygiene: Why wash your hands? How often?  Program can be adjust for a single hour or a few hour event.  Interactive: Shows proper way to brush teeth, wash hands, give examples of healthy choices, do different exercise we can do every day  Goal is to involve community: invite local dentist, grocer, fitness facility and have them assist in providing demos for the kids add to a fun take home bag and parent information  Teaches life long healthy habits that can prevent adult illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, gum disease and the passing or receiving of “yucky” germs  Coordinated with the assistance of the school and/or parent volunteers for bigger event

3  Program goes over:  Bike safety tips  How to properly fit a helmet  Proper clothes/shoes to wear  Choosing the right bike size Interactive Portion: Kids will get to choose the right clothes to wear and dress a volunteer the right way and a wrong way. We will then see what happens (using watermelons as our kid) to the kid who is dressed right and falls off their bike and the kid who dressed all wrong and falls off their bike. Demonstration takes about 25 minutes per session and usually works best in small groups of about 10-20 kids at a time. Goodie bags provided at the end with information on bike safety, coloring book, book mark and band aides. Big to Small: Bike safety is for All!

4  Program is best added to an already existing assembly as it can be shared in large groups  Demonstrate ways to be seen at night  Talk about where to walk and the buddy system and/or staying with parents  Talk about making a plan  Talk about candy safety  And starting their candy stock with a fun trick or treat bag with a few healthy treats Halloween Safety

5  Program is geared to education. Cause and effect: water and electric, metal and electric, cloth and electric heat  Cool tips to take home to mom and dad to make the house safer  Electrical hazards outside: electrified fences, kite flying, lightening and swimming, ipods and pools

6  Car seat checks done by local police department  Seatbelt safety  Why are car seats so important  Car etiquette Listen, let the driver focus and be safe

7  Crossing the road  Being alert  Listening and looking  Staying with an adult or letting an adult know where you are going  Navigating parking lots  Not chasing the ball Pedestrian Safety Safe Kids Walk this Way
