What can you interpret about these people who were on the Titanic and their experience? ‘Brown asked Hitchens to let the women row to keep them warm. Ignoring his complaints, she began to hand out oars anyway’ ‘The Duff Gordons both survived but were called to testify at the court of inquiry and explain why their boat contained only twelve people’ ‘Frank lived near Tiger Stadium, where the crowds were so loud they reminded him of the sounds made as people perished in the water’

You will be assessed on your ability to: 1.Select and retrieve key quotes: when we collected quotes about the Titanic in our previous lesson. 2.Interpret and identify subtle information: our starter activity we have just done. Discuss: What is the difference between these 2 skills?

Getting to know them! In groups you will read about a specific character from the Titanic Roles: Actors who show what happened to your character, inference makers – people who can comment on how the characters might be feeling or thinking. Rest of the class to make notes on: Their role, a shocking fact, interesting facts.
