3 Syktyvkar Forest Institute Established in 1952 6 000 full-time, part-time and correspondence students 300 teaching staff 5 faculties: Forest-and-Engineering, Technological, Agricultural, Economics- and-Management and Faculty of Correspondence studies 26 departments 18 specialties Optional professional training center GIS-centre Laboratory of Paper and Board, laboratory “Modern forest machines mechanics”, “Dendrology”, etc International projects

4 Main goal: Joining the efforts of the higher educational Institutions providing Forestry education in the Finno-Ugric countries and RF regions in order to increase the quality of education. International Council in Forestry Higher Education Professional training in the Finno-Ugric countries and RF regions Established in Syktyvkar on August 21, 2009 Main aims: Working out, agreement and implementation of the joint programs in different trends of activities.

5 The Basic documents of the Council The General Agreement on establishment The International Council in Forestry Higher Education Professional training in the Finno-Ugric countries and RF regions The Articles of the International Council Provisions of the Secretariat Information support – the Council website Period of validity – 5 years

6 The Council’s structure  The Council members are Rectors (Directors) or two representatives from each Institution.  The Secretariat is coordinating all the activities and is located in Syktyvkar (at SFI).  The Council is held once a year, where the hosting Institution is heading the event.  Thematic groups, named by the Council, prepare the problematic issues considered at the Council discussions.
