Where were the Great Plains?
Plains Native Americans lived on the Great Plains of central North America from north of what is today the Canadian border to present-day southern Texas.

Shelter The Indians of the northern Great Plains lived in earth lodges. Each round earth lodge was home to several families.

Shelter About twice a year the villages emptied as the men, women and children took part in a great buffalo hunt. During their hunts they built shelters that were easy to move called Teepees.

Food Because most of the land is dry Plains Native Americans settled along rivers and grew crops such as corn, beans, squash, and pumpkins Buffalo was plentiful, therefore it became a major source of meat for the Plains Natives
