Environment: Northeast, heavily forested, Food: -Harvested beans, corn, & squash, potatoes, tomatoes Gathered roots, nuts, berries, & maple syrup Hunted deer, bear, elk, rabbit, squirrel. Fished Shelter: Lived in “Longhouses” Resources used: Tree bark, saplings Clothing: Animal skins, plant fibers, moccasins

Environment: Lived on the Great Plains. Grassy, few trees, flat, hot summers, cold winters Shelter: Lived in tepees made from buffalo skin. Resources used: Buffalo skins, Long poles, cord, stakes Food: Ate mostly buffalo meat, elk, deer, antelope, turkey. Clothing: Wore deer and buffalo skin clothes, headdresses,

Anasazi? Shelter: Food: Ate rabbits, deer, birds Lived in adobe houses called Pueblos or cliff dwellings Resources used: Adobe: clay, straw, water. Ate corn, beans, & squash: the “3 sisters” Used irrigation. Environment: Southwest- Desert, little rain, hot. Clothing: Clothes made of cotton, deer and rabbit skins

Shelter: Environment: Lived in Pacific Northwest. -Rainy, mild climate. Dense fir, pine, and cedar forests near the ocean shore. Lived in plank houses with several families. Houses had totem poles. Resources used: Wood planks Clothing: Food: Wore plants (cedar bark) animal skin, natural fibers. Ate fish, whales, deer, elk, bears, wolves, berries, seals

Environment: Shelter: Winter-Homes were Igloos, made of ice blocks Summer-tents from animal skins Lived in Alaska & Northern Canada. Temperature below freezing much of the year. Snow & Ice Resources used: snow and ice, Animal skins Food: Clothing: Ate reindeer, whale, walruses, seals, salmon, caribou, polar bears Clothes, blankets from furs & feathers.
