Thomas Cole (BSU# 1995.035.055) Ball State University Museum of Art After studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Thomas Cole moved to Catskill, New York where he gained fame as a romantic landscape painter. As other landscape artists joined him in the area, they became know as the Hudson River School.
