3 Graduation Requirements 21 Total Credits which must include: 4 English (English 9, 10, 11 & 12) 4 Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and 1 other) 3 Science (Biology and 2 others) 3 Social Studies (US History, LSN Gov’t, & World History) 1 Fine Art 1 Tech Ed (Foundations of Technology) ½ Health ½ Personal Fitness 2 Foreign Languages (the same), 2 Advanced Technology or 4 Credit completer Program Service Learning Hours: 24 hours required

4 Graduation Requirements Service Learning Hours…What does NOT count? -Volunteer work at a facility whose chief purpose is to increase the revenue for a private for-profit business or to generate new revenue for that business -Volunteer work that replaces a paid staff worker of an agency or institution -Student is compensated with money, goods, or services for volunteering -Church (ushering, singing in choir, teaching Sunday School) -Non-licensed daycare/childcare home or facility

6 Promotion Requirements Grade 9 to 10 5 Credits (including English 9 & Algebra 1) Grade 10 to 11 10 Credits (2 English, Algebra 1, Geometry, 1 Science, 1 Social Studies & 4 additional Credits) Grade 11 to 12 14 Credits (3 English, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, 1 Science, 1 Social Studies & 6 additional credits)

7 Grades and GPA All courses taken figures into your child’s GPA. Progress Reports and Report Cards are numeric. Final grades will be a letter grade. Students must earn a minimum of 240 points in a Full Year class and 120 points in a Semester class in order to pass the class with a 60% D. Students who fail required courses for graduation will have to repeat the course through Credit Recovery, Summer School, or Evening School.

8 Redesigned PSAT 10 th Graders took test on October 14, 2015 PSAT Results coming mid-December to early January Test length is 2hr 45 min compared to 2hr 10 min 4 multiple choice questions instead of 5 No penalty for wrong answers Scoring scale ranges from 320 to 1520 combined score for two sections (Math and Reading/Writing). Both sections range from 160 points to 760 points Closely resembles the redesigned SAT which will be administered in Spring 2016

10 Getting Involved & What’s In It For Your Student? Top 10 Reasons 10.It’s a great way to meet others with similar interests. 9.It helps them stay active and positively engaged. 8.It will help to uncover their strengths. 7.It provides direction for future career paths. 6.It helps to build positive relationships with classmates.

12 10 th Grade Action Plan Students are encouraged to continue to raise their GPA Develop habits to become successful (be on time for class and come prepared to learn) Stay on track for graduation Learn about and join programs, clubs and activities. Be a well rounded student Students should continue to evaluate their choices. Students meet with their counselor. Students were asked to think about where they want to be in two years and what will they need to do in order to get there?
