Pre-Flight Briefing ANSR-74 Pima Community College 3/23/13 Eric Nelson Henry Reiner Charles Schied Yisun Se Zach Anderson Abraham Contreras Team Members

Payload 1 Design Process Minimalist approach; Small, light, efficient Include at least five different sensors Design the smallest volume payload possible Reduce unnecessary weight from the components Test all sensors Test pod and electronics and -60°C

Payload 1 Structure Compact design to reduce payload weight Foam board is impact resistant and lightThere is little room for components to move

Payload 1 Data Inputs Temperature  2 Thermocron buttons on pod  2 Thermocron buttons in pod  1 temperature sensor on pressure board  1 temperature sensor outside of payload wall Pressure sensor Rotational velocity sensor Magnetic field sensor Acceleration sensor

Graphite cone and plexiglass dome Payload 2 Lamp rod with bearings

Payload 2 Camera housing Access panel

We Learned That Foam boards are well insulated A foam board pod can sustain high impact A box-shaped payload has the most efficient volume in which to fit the Arduino microprocessor, power supply, and attached sensors. Simplicity of design in pod and electronics layout creates less room for malfunction
