Why & How Protects the HEAD!
Used for years by international rugby association Shoulder level tackles Hit the Strike zone Our aiming point is below the shoulders & above the knees

Tracking Run & Gather: Keeps tackler in proper hitting (fit) position to tackle. Aiming point is near hip. Keys: Wrap through thighs, bring thighs to chest & squeeze; drive feet through contact 5 yards. Tackler tracks near hip of ball carrier (BC), sprinting at an angle in the proper fit position. Hits BC with head on inside hip, wraps, squeezes legs through chest, and drives feet.

Turk Tackles From Knees: Tacklers starts on knees 1-3 feet in front of BC. BC moves in either direction. Tackler puts head on inside hip, squeezes thighs through chest, eyes up, and drives. Progression: Start near and move to 10 yards with jogging/tracking. (Once D can tackle properly, progress to a cross face tackle, with head across the body) Keys: Keep eyes up, bring shoulder through hips, drive for 5 yards

Turk Roll Tackles Roll Tackle: Tackle starts in a fit position on BC. Inside foot is splitting the BC, head on the outside, eyes level through the thighs. Tackler wraps the ball carrier and rolls to leverage. (Usually onto himself.) Keys: Eyes through thighs, wrap with shoulder, ROLL! Progression: Progress to jogging and tracking, always tackle in fit position. Can use handheld bags as BC. Head is on near hip.
