8 In Nov 1923 Hitler plotted with Kahr, a fellow Nationalist, to take over Munich, then all of Germany in a revolution. But Hitler and Kahr then fell out… and Kahr called off the Revolution….

Hitler felt he needed to act before Stresemann fixed things… Munich Putsch Growth of the Nazis By 1923 the Nazis had 55,000 members.. Help Hitler thought that all Nationalist groups would come together to help him… The SA By 1923 the SA had grown and wanted something to do…

11 On 8 Nov Hitler & 600 SA broke into a meeting that Kahr was holding in a Munich Beer Hall. Hitler waved a gun at him and forced him to agree to join the Putsch…

17 RESULTS OF THE PUTSCH 1.Hitler sent to Prison for 5 years, but only serves 9 months – he writes “Mein Kampf” (“My Struggle”) in prison, which becomes a bestseller… 2.The Nazi Party was banned & Hitler banned from speaking in public until 1927. 3.Hitler gave up on further armed putsches. Instead he planned to come to power through fighting and winning elections. The Munich Putsch did not succeed but was not a failure. Discuss.

18  Some extra info to help you answer the Q... The Munich Putsch (MP) was a failure in the short term because… However, in the long term the MP helped Hitler for a number of reasons. Firstly…. Secondly... Thirdly... FINISHED? The most important of these 3 outcomes was…because… Short Term...... easily defeated by Police... didn’t get much support... 16 Nazis killed Long Term...... got lots of publicity from his trial... Resulted in change of tactics to win power through elections... looking back later, Hitler said the Nazis were not ready to lead Germany in 1923...
