B26 The AsyMatrix Condenser for Heat Pumps Powerful, just smaller

B26 – AsyMatrix Condenser for Heat Pumps Powerful, just smaller The asymmetric B26 BPHE is a high performance condenser with a capacity range of up to 40 kW. The combination of high performance, low internal volume and a smaller-than-expected footprint makes this BPHE truly unique on the market. The small size facilitates the design of compact systems and the asymmetric channels allows the refrigerant hold-up volume to be reduced with up to 50%, compared to comparable products. The B26 is the perfect choice for ground source and reversible air to water heat pumps where efficiency, compactness and sustainability is important.

<400 mm 376 mm B26 Symmetric Technology 525 – 530 mm B26 allows for smaller and lighter heat pump system in the capacity range 5-40kW R410A – Strong market trend with new compressors R407C – Common today but not in new projects Compressor

SWEP AsyMatrix ® – Optimized Asymmetry Improved heat transfer –Increases system performance, higher COP Reduced dimensions –More compact system, smaller footprint Lower pressure losses –Less energy consumption, smaller pump size Smaller hold-up volume –Less refrigerant costs, lower CO 2 footprint

B26 Features & Benefits 150 mm shorter than comparable symmetric BPHE Up to 50% lower internal volume Permits a compact system design Smaller than expected High efficiency in a wide capacity range (5-40kW) Low water pressure drop, < 10kPa Tested and verified for R410A & R407C Optimized performance Optimized asymmetric plate geometry High turbulence pattern, improved heat transfer and reduced risk of fouling, scaling and freezing AsyMatrix Technology

Symmetric pattern - Generic Side 1 = Side 2 Conventional BPHE Tailored pattern - Optimized Side 1 ≠ Side 2 AsyMatrix® BPHE Improved heat transfer – increasing system thermal performance Lower pressure loss – reducing pump work Improved mechanical strength – stronger units Greatly reduced dimensions – allowing for smaller system solutions Lower hold up volume – reducing refrigerant costs

Subcooling, keep it low! Subcooling is a very inefficient way of heat transfer More or less the same heat transfer area is needed in a symmetric and asymmetric BPHE to reach the high degree of subcooling. Since the B26 is smaller – a larger relative part of the B26 is blocked by the liquid refrigerant

Liquid reciever functions Temporary storage containers for oil and refrigerant when neither are needed for system operation. Receiver could be a separate component but could also be integrated into the filter-dryer. Most (all) systems is fitted with a filter-dryer that removes moist and particles to avoid: – Moist – creates sticky sludge with hydrophilic oils (R407C/R410A etc) – Particles – May obstruct the expansion valve orifice Combining the receiver and filter-dryer into 1 component saves assembly time. It is not cost efficient to use a SWEP BPHE that is optimized for heat transfer as receiver.
