Is The Hy-Wire Concept Car A Vehicle We Can Expect To Be Driving Within Our Lifetime?
2
All the mechanical linkages and hydraulics used in everyday normal cars for steering and breaking are not needed in this car as it is all wired up to a main computer mounted on the chassis, which is like a large motherboard with wheels There are no pedals or gear sticks like in normal cars giving a much roomier feel within the car itself. This car being a concept car means it is not available for the public to purchase. This proves that the technology is there to make this kind of environmentally friendly car, just at a great cost.

This car combines the hydrogen fuel cell technology that is being used is no many new family and executive cars today to reduce carbon emissions and an electric motor to then finally completely remove any emissions that this car gives off. Fuel cells are devices that produce electrical power. They operate by using hydrogen and oxygen to create useable electrical current, water vapor and heat. In some ways they can be considered to be a continuously fuelled battery, although, unlike a battery, they do not store energy - they convert it from one form to another.
4
What is the costing of this technology? At what rate will it reduce the carbon emissions compared to the current engines? How will it affect the planets atmosphere?
5
Cars with hydrogen fuel cell technology are out there for us to purchase right now. But are we paying more for this technology cars? Below I have a table that shows the cost of the some of the cars available to buy now. DateCar Price in $ 11/1 Toyota Prius$26,500 10/31Ford Escape Hybrid$26,363 10/28Honda Civic Hybrid$22,695 10/11Nissan Altima Hybrid$30,700 10/10Toyota Camry Hybrid$30,500 Price in £ £12,665 £12,125 £10,834 £14,656 £14,560 *The costs of these cars were taken from America and the costing has been amended into pound sterling through a currency converter to the prices may be accurate.

Engine Type Water Vapor/mile Carbon Dioxide/mile Gasoline Combustion0.39 lb.0.85 lb. Fuel Cell Running on Hydrogen from Gasoline 0.32 lb.0.70 lb. Fuel Cell Running on Hydrogen from Methane 0.25 lb.0.15 lb. Fuel Cell Running on Renewable Hydrogen 0.25 lb.0.00 lb. This data I found shows you clearly that the amount of carbon emissions given of per mile is nothing, while all other engines types give off carbon emissions that affect global warming. Also from this table you can see that it even gives off less amount of water vapor, which may not actually be harmful to the environment but it is still emissions from a car.
7
This technology has its place in the world now, with the rate in which global warming is happening something needs to be done to reduce the emissions that our cars are giving off. This new engine should help to do this slowly but very few people actually own these types of cars and with the number of cars on the road this hasn’t even scratched the surface of the problem. Luckily all companies are now releasing there own versions of the “hybrid” car so who knows how long it will be before everyone is driving around in an environmentally friendly car.
