3 Introduction Mission San Diego de alcla was founded on June by Father Serra. It was used as a mission until 1769 it is still in use. It was the first mission built in California.

4 Location Mission San Diego de Alcala is located in Mission Valley, California.

5 Father Serra Father Fray junipero Serra was born on November in Majorca, Spain. Serra had health problems. His health suffered because of a bug bite on his leg. He become a priest in He was 71 when he died. Father Serra died on August 28, 1784.

6 People of the Mission Alta California had a big population of Indians. They lived in groups of 80 to 100 people. They needed to live near water. The Kumeyaay Indians had lots of personal freedom. They moved freely. When they moved, they built new dwelling in areas with greater resources. In the summer the wore very little clothes, and in the winter they draped animal skin.

7 Daily Life The men hunted for food and planted crops. The women wove baskets with their children. The children wove baskets with their mothers and did chores, but they never had free time.

8 Hardships The Indians destroyed and burned the mission, and they killed Fray Luis Jayme because the Kumeyaay got very upset. They also felt that they were trapped, and they took their anger out on the priest the and mission.

9 Conclusion My conclusion about San Diego De Acla is that it is a beautiful mission to take a family trip.

10 Interesting Facts San Diego de acla was destroyed by the Kumeyaay Indians. San Diego de acla was the first mission built. This mission is still in use since The Kumeyaay Indians do not live there any more.
