Teaching points: Being safe online Benefits and risks of online interactions Distinguish between personal information, which is safe to share online, and private information, which is unsafe to share. Learn how to guard against phishing and identity theft. Characteristics of strong passwords. When could you teach this?

Teaching points: Understand what a digital footprint is and how it is formed. Recognize that people’s online information can be helpful or harmful to their reputation and image. Think about what they want their footprints to be. Learn to think before you click! When could you teach this?

Teaching points: Understand the importance of using a variety of search strategies. Understand that copyright is a legal system that protects rights to creative work. Understand the value of fair use by reworking and remixing copyrighted material in a collage or video. Learn to validate sources and look for bias. Learn how to guard against phishing and identity theft. When could you teach this?

Teaching points: Identify the opportunities and pitfalls with engaging in online communication Learn how to recognize and handle cyberbullying Explore digital dilemmas and practice decision-making Mindful messaging When could you teach this?
