2. Proofreading Proofreading means to read over your essay to look for mistakes. You should always read over your writing before handing it in. As you proofread, ask yourself these questions:

5. Revising Revising means to rewrite your essay with changes. You should make changes to your rough draft. Then, rewrite it as a clean, easy-to-read, final draft. As you write your final draft, you may make a mistake. If you decide to take out some writing, cross it out with one line. If you decide to insert some words, use a caret (^). Make your changes as neatly as possible.
