2 Fine Arts Program rated Exemplary. The Gonzalez fine arts program has done an exceptional job representing our campus throughout the district and community. Students have participated in numerous activities including art competitions, U.I.L. events, and various concerts. Our students have received recognition for their efforts at different community competitions including the Brownsville Mayor’s Award at the International Student Art Show. A. Banos wins the Brownsville Mayor’s Award. She is featured with Commissioner Jessica Tetreau.. J. De la Cruz, 1 st Place in Dia de los Muertos competition. P. Olvera 1 st Place International Show. Mr. Macias and his choir students perform for Author Dr. Love and Prekinder students.

3 Gonzalez Elementary Wellness and Physical Education Program rated Exemplary. Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Exemplary. The Gonzalez Elementary P.E. staff did an astounding job getting students to participate in basketball, indoor soccer, and track. We not only ensured physical wellness for our students, but also for our parents through several nutrition sessions conducted at our parent meetings. This the first year our district provides two (Fall/Spring) campus health screenings in which we had a high percentage of teachers participate. Gonzalez teachers anxiously wait to receive their flu shot in the Fall. The community came together and took advantage of the Rivera Health Fair in which the Rivera cluster collaborated and participated in. Wellness and Physical Education Programs…

4 Gonzalez Elementary Community & Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized. Community and Parental Involvement Program rated Recognized. Gonzalez parents have shown tremendous support and involvement throughout the year. They are our key factor in making our community service projects a complete success. This year we raised over $2,000 in the Pennies for Patients project. We also, participated in our city’s annual Charro Days Parade with a dance performance. Our Gonzalez Cheerleaders participated by performing at our local Walmart’s Grand Opening Ceremony.  Community and Parental Involvement… Parents attended weekly meetings and were an integral component of our campus; helping with many activities. The Dean of Instruction and TLI Teacher Specialist presented to the parents at Leon Gardens Head Start.

5 Gonzalez Elementary School 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary. 21 st Century Workforce Development Readiness rated Exemplary. This year our faculty and staff did an outstanding job in taking a College Readiness approach by displaying College- theme doors and encourage our students that college is within their reach. Our counselors also did a phenomenal job in coordinating our annual career fair with 21 participants from our community. 6 Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary. Gonzalez Elementary has provided our students with multiple learning opportunities to help them succeed and prevent them from dropping out. Students were able to attend tutorials through various means such as after school, early morning computer lab tutorials, and Saturday tutorials. During these sessions student made use of different software programs including Think Through Math and I-station. The 5 th graders also, had the opportunity to engage in learning through technology in each of their core classes by having access to individual laptops. Our students and teachers have engaged in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities and projects throughout the school year.  Students during tutorials…

7 Gonzalez Elementary Second Language Acquisition rated Recognized English as a Second Language Programs rated Recognized. Gonzalez Elementary participated in Fiesta Folklorica, Charro Days Parade, 16 de Septiembre, and 5 de Mayo activities this year. The students, teachers, parents, and staff had an opportunity to participate in these exciting cultural activities.  Teachers and students created a culturally rich environment.

8 Gonzalez Elementary Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Technology integration was critical in the testing areas this year. This was the first time we had students STAAR A testing on the computers. The district had the second graders, and G.T. students test on the computers for their NRT testing. The lower grades had i-Pads to use with educational games. We also had the upper grades implementing the i-Station and Think Through Math software to support the reading and math content areas. Lastly, the district provided laptops for the entire fifth grade population to use in class. Students used technology to prepare for state assessments and support creative, innovative, lifelong learning.

9 Gonzalez Elementary Gifted and Talented Program Rated Recognized. Gifted and Talented Rated Recognized. The Gifted and Talented program participants were very successful this year. The Destination Imagination Mystical Mustangs competed in Dallas as they advanced to state. They earned first place in the “Feary Tales” Category, and landed a spot to Global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee. The chess team was fired up and brought home several trophies this year!  Gifted and Talented Program Students… The Destination Imagination Team advanced to Globals in Tennessee! They ranked 1 st in the state in the category of “Feary Fairytales”. Mystical Mustangs celebrate at Veteran’s High School as they get the news they advanced to State Competition in Dallas. Gonzalez Chess team is rocking this year! D.I. in Nashville, TN at Globals
