1 Bell Ringer #1 Driver Preparation You and your buddies are getting ready to take a road trip to the beach to visit some friends. You have decided to drive your car. Before leaving for your adventure, write a short story of how you will make sure your car is up for the long drive. –Make sure you include at least 5 different steps you will take to insure your car’s safety. –Write at least 3 paragraphs (3-5 sentences each) with correct punctuation and grammar.

12 V. Starting Tasks Driver’s Seating Position - Adjust so driver’s heel can pivot smoothly between foot pedals *Adjust to allow at least 10” between driver’s chest and steering wheel - Adjust seat back for driver’s visual needs

13 Starting Tasks 1.Check parking brake 2.Place foot on brake 3.Turn key to start engine 4.Adjust heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) 5.Set accessories (headlights, wipers) 6.Check for warning lights and gauges

21 Driver ReadinessTasks Driver Readiness Tasks Topic 1 Lesson 3 - Set rear view mirror to see 200 feet to the rear. - Set side view mirror 15 degrees out to view adjacent lane. Mirrors NOTE: If rear view is blocked, adjust side view mirrors to see the side of vehicle and area behind the vehicle. This mirror setting will increase your blind spot.
