Ball and Ramp By: Jeremy Newman
2
Hypothesis O I predict as the drop height increases the distance between bounce 1 and 2 will grow.
3
Variables and Materials O Materials: carbon paper, golf ball, graph paper, lab report, masking tape, meter tape, Scott towels, 16D nails, 2 PVC pipes. O controlled: golf ball, nail, angle O Manipulated: Release Distance/height which ball is being dropped O Dependent: distance between bounce 1 and bounce 2
4
Procedures 1.We did a sketch 2. we gathered our materials 3. put on goggles 4.construct pipe 5. set piping on angle on chair 6. put nail at 10cm mark 7. perform trials
5
Observations O I observed that the drop from 10cm had the smallest distance of 43cm because the momentum did not hit the ground with enough force. The 20cm drop was bigger so the distance between bounce 1 and 2 grew. For the 40cm it was around in the 70’s cm. In the 60cm drop it was floating around high 90’s low 100’s with ours at 90cm. At the 80cm drop it had the second most distance between bounce 1 and 2 at an astonishing 115cm. In the 85cm drop it had the most distance in between bounce 1 and 2 with a 127.

Ball and Ramp :Line Graph
7
Possible Explanations A possible explanation is as the drop height increases distance between bounce 1 and 2 will increase.
8
Additional Questions O Question: What happens to the bounce as the release distance increases ? O Answer: The distance between bounces increases.
9
What is Another Variable You Could Manipulate O Another variable I would like to manipulate is the angle of the pipe and how it affects the distance between bounce 1 and 2.
10
Conclusion O I can draw from this experiment that the higher the drop the more centimeters between bounce 1 and 2. I know for sure because the lowest distance between bounce 1 and 2 was 43cm from 10cm height on the highest drop point of 85cm got 127cm between bounce 1 and 2.
