2 Warm Up…  Earthquake energy travels through the Earth as waves.  1. Name the 3 types of waves  2. Put these waves in order from fastest to slowest  3. List 1 fact about each type of wave

3 Volunteers…  3 types: Primary waves, Secondary waves, Surface waves  Fastest to slowest: primary, secondary, surface  Facts: primary travel through solids and liquids, secondary only travel through solids, and surface cause the most damage

4 Let’s test our understanding….  Where are most of the world’s earthquakes and volcanoes found?  At plate boundaries….

7 Ring of Fire Activity Write in Notebook  The Pacific Ring of Fire is an extremely active region:  Contains nearly 90% of the world’s earthquakes  Contains over 450 volcanoes
