6. Sept. 1957 Little Rock Nine Nine Black students try and attend the new desegregated high school in Little Rock but are met with protesters.

12. August 28 th 1963 March on Washington 200,000 people march “I Have a Dream Speech”

13. Sept. 15 th 1963 Bombing of a church kills four girls.

15. July 2nd Civil Rights Act of ‘64 The act prohibits discrimination of all kinds based on race, color, religion, or national origin. Federal gove. will enforce desegregation

16. August 10 th 1965 Voting Rights Act Congress passes the voting act making easier for all people to register to vote

17. Sept. 24 th Affirmative action Executive order 11246 enforces affirmative action

18. October ‘66 Black Panthers founded Militant Black panthers are founded
