5 Expansion of Democracy Election of 1828 –The election of Andrew Jackson, by “the common man” marks a new era in American Politics –People now believe that they should have control of their government Jacksonian Democracy –Jackson’s form of Democracy believed in expanded rights of all men –But he also believed the Presidency should be supreme
