1. SENIOR WRITING Week of May 13 Introduction to the Portfolio Learning Target: To write and revise to effectively communicate for a specific purpose and audience.

2. “ABOUT ME” Write statements that tell about you, your thoughts, feelings, ideas. Statements will mostly start “I am,” “I was,” “I thought.” After I was born, my first shirt said, “My son the doctor,” because my mother was sure she would have another boy. I learned how to drive a manual transmission before my dad would let me take driver’s ed. I like to drive, and I am a horrible passenger. When I have a big decision to make or if I am coping with something, a long walk on the beach helps me to make sense of it and move forward. Write 5 such statements about yourself.

3. P HILOSOPHY OF L IFE A philosophy is an expression of your values, your beliefs about people, the world, how you choose to conduct yourself. I believe people are basically good and given the right opportunity will make good choices. I believe Michigan is a wonderful state to live in and think the people here are generous and caring. I believe people need to learn to give of themselves in order to really understand their place in the world. I believe the Red Wings are an amazing dynasty. You need to create 5 such belief statements. Each one needs to begin with “I believe.”
