Viewpoints of Academics and Students on Using the E-EPOSTL at University of Prešov Barbora Popovičová and Nikola Mihoková

The aim of the research to map the opinions on using the e-EPOSTL within the academics and students at University of Prešov in Slovakia to find out the strengths and defects of the e-EPOSTL to determine positives and negatives of the e-EPOSTL to ascertain the usefulness of the e-EPOSTL to specify the list of potential suggestions for improvement of the e-EPOSTL

Findings among the academics 9 academics were asked to participate in survey (only 5 of them finally completed the assessment report) Findings are results of the information gained from the assessment report and narrative interviews the assessment report: - consists of two sections 1. duration 2. aspects of the e-EPOSTL (positives/negatives; usefulness; suggestions for improvement)

Findings among the academics Section one: The average time of completing the e-EPOSTL was 90 minutes 3 out of 5 respondents stated that it is too long and time consuming Section two: positives: covers wide range of aspects of teaching offers hints and ideas how to make teaching more effective provides general comments on certain issues concerning teaching creates time to think about one’s own teaching gives the opportunity to set up the aim where one wants to get

Findings among academics negatives: time consuming not anonymous no immediate feedback too many open questions in personal statement section not dyslexia friendly fond redundant statements some statements are incomprehensible 100% scale too large, not clear Dossier section: without being offered any comment, it is not appropriate to ask for one’s work

Finding among academics suggestions: make it shorter and more effective offer some feedback after completing the portfolio reduce 100% scale (e.g. 1 to 5) make it more user friendly provide the option to create the profile with the history of results available

Findings among students 29 students of teacher training programmes participated in the questionnaire the questions of the questionnaire were concentrated on: - the appearance of the e-EPOSTL ( Do you like the visual appearance of the E-EPOSTL?; Would you prefer printed version to internet version of the EPOSTL? Would you change something on the E-EPOSTL, e.g. a) shorter questions b) more pictures c) nicer appearance of the website d) incentives (jokes, color, etc.) e) form of self-evaluation: instead 1-100, 1-5 f) online chat among teachers (also from other countries) g) possibility of creating personal account, own account management h) to have a choice to choose only one part of the EPOSTL to fill in

-way of filling in the portfolio (Do you agree with the option of filling in the E-EPOSTL gradually) -possibility of evaluation of the own portfolio (Would you like to get a self-evaluation after you fill in the portfolio?, If your answer is yes, what form of evaluation would you accept) - the length of the e-EPOSTL (Did you fill in all parts of the E-EPOSTL?, While filling in the portfolio, which part of the E-EPOSTL did you find too long?

Findings among students Majority of respondents (24) do not like the visual appearance of the e-EPOSTL 93% of respondents wished to change some aspects

Findings among students 97% of respondents would like to receive an evaluation after completing the portfolio in the verbal form or the form of diagram The longest parts of portfolio are in general considered Self-Assessment Resources (52%) and Self Assessment Methodology (31%) More than half of the respondents did not come to the end when filling the e- EPOSTL 21 out of 29 respondents prefer printed version to electronical version of the EPOSTL
