Typing Time Monday, March 16, 2015 – Thursday, March 19, 2015 Honors and Regular MYP

Objective, Agenda, & Homework Objective: Students will revise their writing while typing and compiling their multi-genre research projects. Agenda: – Type – Check of Completed Work with Teacher Homework: – Regular: work on project in study hall, etc. – Honors: Latin roots 36-40 due Weds.; work on project a home, etc.

Need More Time? If you do not have enough time in class to type because of absences or other reasons, use one of the following options: – Work at home if you have a computer. Just save the documents to a flash drive or email them to yourself. – Go to the library (1 st floor) at lunch to type. – During Study Hall, choose to type when an English teacher comes in and offers to pull students who need to type. – Come to the English Office (rm. 130) after school Monday-Thursday to type with Miss Garlock!

Tuesday: – Advocate Letter: revise, type, & print Give it a title and save it in your U-Drive. – Other Genre? Wednesday: – Logos Genre: type & print Give it a title and save it in your U-Drive. – Other? – Works Cited: revise again (if necessary) & print Thursday: FINAL PROJECT DUE – Dear Reader Letter: type & print – Hypothetical Notes: type & print – Cover Page: type & print Look up “MLA title page format” online – Compile Multi-Genre Project Organize by Checklist Staple Turn in with drafts in your sheet protector Friday: TBD in classroom

Regular Requirements Follow the pacing (from the previous slide) each day. As you print, have Miss G check off your completed genre for your participation points for the day. Then, be sure to save your document to your U-Drive. Finally, put each printed genre in your sheet protector before you leave.

Honors: Week Overview Use the summative checklist to make sure you are completing all assignments. – DUE DATE: THURSDAY 19, MARCH 2015 – Final Portfolio Requirements Checklist: – Cover Page – Dear Reader Letter: similar to writer’s memo: see 6 questions sheet. – FINAL DRAFTS of 4-10 pieces Final Draft of the Advocate Letter Final Draft of the Non-Fiction piece (Logos) Final Draft of the Fiction piece (Pathos) Final Draft of the Visual Genre piece Other: ___________________________ – Hypothetical Notes Page: answers to the 3 questions: create for the Advocate Letter and ALL pieces – Works cited: all sources referenced throughout the project using MLA format – Weaving Piece: a short genre which connects and transitions all the writing in the portfolio (i.e. quotes, song lyrics, headlines, etc.)
