Slovak Cuisine Slovak cuisine is Central European. It is characterized by simple and natural dishes. Our national dish is Bryndzové Halusky small potato dumplings with sheep cheese and pieces of fried bacon; Slovak cheese is excellent. The other typical Slovak dishes are smoked meat and sausages, stuffed dumplings, zemiakove placky - potato pancakes; and kapustnica, a souerkraut soup.
