2 Post Revolution Norms Religion – Most of the country is Islamic – Holidays are never on a set date, they go off of the lunar calender Education – Elementary school begins around age 6 – Mandatory until 8 th grade Government – Theocratic republic – Supreme religious leader is head of state – President is head of government Family – Children live at home until they marry – Girls typically help the mother with household chores, while boys run outside errands

3 How They Impacted Iranians After the revolution, the government gained control of the big industries. Women are encouraged to be completely covered except for the hands and eyes The moral of the people went down, the economy suffered

4 How They Impacted the World Iran became independent in the sense they did not want to be influenced by neither Russia or the U.S. Many other countries near Iran began to oppose western culture America’s view on Iran went from one of trust and alliance to one of defensiveness.
