Parallel Sixth Chords A Series of Parallel First Inversion Chords * Note-it does not mean a bunch of vi chords in a row. It means that you have a sequence of first inversion chords with the pitches going in the same direction. Ie: V6-IV6- iii6-ii6-I6-viio6 Functions outside of the normal progression rules. Must Be Bracketed!

Part-Writing First Inversion Triads Contrapuntal Texture: Texture Consisting of relatively independent melodic lines Use the doubling that produces the best voice leading. i.e. Creates the best mountainscape Homophonic Texture: Chordal Based The doubling should be the one that provides the desired sonority. i.e. Closed vs. open structure In any Texture: Never double the leading tone= Root of the viio chord
