Finishing University in 2009? What are your options? One of them is to travel and see the world while using your degree to earn money and fund your adventure of a lifetime.

What do you get out of it? Working for Axcis Education in the UK comes with MANY benefits. Aside from the obvious of you being able to experience different cultures and different surroundings, you also experience a different curriculum and school system that poses many different challenges to teaching in Australia. You will have a fantastic opportunity to work with children who have a totally different perception on life. This experience gives you a great grounding for your career and will help to make you a better teacher in every aspect.

Types of Work Each person sees different advantages in the various ways you can work. Supply work is plentiful. With London being such a highly populated city you can usually work as many days as you want. Daily Supply: You can work on a day-to-day basis and receive calls the day before and even the morning of. This allows you to be flexible with the days that you work and take time off during the term Long Term Supply: This is usually done for things such as maternity cover or long service leave. Many people prefer this option as it is a stable income and you get to know the children you are teaching.

Living in London These are the very basic things that you will need to live in London. London has a reputation for being a very expensive city but when you break it down it doesn’t have to be! Each person is different and will spend different amounts of money on these items.

Term Times Roughly as every year is slightly different The year is comprised of three terms. These are broken up by six half- term blocks being 6 weeks in length.

Am I allowed to work in the UK? The UK has very strict immigration laws and they have just been made even stricter! This means it's harder than ever to gain working visas. The good news is that because of Australia's special relationship with the UK they are still offering a simple and 'easy-to get' visa for people under the age of 30 to experience Europe. The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme visa is a multiple entry visa the entitles the holder to live and work in the UK for 2 years, coming and going as often as they like. The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme visa has only 3 requirements 1.That you are a Australian, New Zealand, Canadian or Japanese passport holder 2.You have at least £1600 (approx $AUD3200) in your bank account 3.You are under 31 years of age at the time of application. For info on other visas or to apply for the T5 YMS go to: www.ukvisas.gov.uk www.ukvisas.gov.uk

What is so special about London? London and the UK in general is an amazing place to live. There is always something to do or see. In my two years in London there was never a weekend that I was completely bored with nothing to do. You don't even have to stay in London! You can duck off for a weekend to anywhere in Europe for as little as £80 (approx. $160). You can see Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich and many other amazing cities! The possibilities are endless!

London isn’t for me! London is not the only are in the UK we deal with. For those of you who were thinking 10 million people, almost half of the population of Australia, in one city is a few too many. Birmingham and the Midlands may be more your style. Birmingham is a smaller city with fantastic transport links that is situated in the middle of the UK, hence the area being called The Midlands. Birmingham also has a bit more of a country feel and there are fantastic opportunities for Australian teachers.

Why Axcis? I have taught in London for over a year now and have loved every minute! I signed up with Axcis before leaving Australia and had a block of work three days after landing in the UK. Axcis took the stress and worry out of finding work, especially when I was so far away from home. The days can be challenging but knowing I had a supporting agency to talk to at the end of each day was comforting. The agency staff are familiar with the schools they send you to and know what it's like to have a classroom of children with high demands and daily challenges. Working in the UK isn't a walk in the park, but the feeling you get when you know you have made a difference in the life of a child, makes it all worth while. Sophie - Early Years Teacher : Central Coast NSW

Why Axcis? We offer –fantastic rates of pay –Some of the best schools in the UK –Opportunities to teach in countries all around the world –Highly experienced and friendly staff that have been in your shoes –Professional development seminars to help you continue learning and improving as a teacher –Support for the whole time you are there to make sure that you enjoy your UK experience –Teacher’s events and nights out

AND Just to make it easier for you! After going through it all myself I know how hard it can be to get settled in the UK. That’s why we have put together a pack for you. This pack includes:  Help opening a bank account with a leading UK bank  A UK SIM card from O2 who is one of the biggest mobile phone companies  National Insurance number (same as a Tax File Number) Other companies charge upwards of £35.00 for this service but we won’t charge you a penny.
