Professional Association A professional association acts as an arbiter of standards for a given profession. Provides a forum for its members to meet, exchange ideas, and monitor the advancement of the profession.

Computer Science Degrees First BS in CS was at Purdue University 1962 Advanced degrees soon followed. A shortage of BSCS graduates were filled by other technical majors from the 1960s-1990s. The MS & PhD in CS are professional degrees
