Your CAP by the numbers Identify 1 course theme. Use 2 cultural artifacts (primary sources). Identify 1 issue Present 1 alternative position to the issue (to the one you will argue). Argue 1 position. Write 1 intro paragraph. Include a thesis that is between 1 and 3 sentences long. Write 3-6 body paragraphs. Include specific evidence from at least 1 primary source in each body paragraph. Write 1 concluding paragraph Complete an MLA formatted works cited with 2 primary sources -3 if you also used the Sayre text.

From course theme to issue To write an argumentative thesis Identify the course theme. What is problematic about your course theme? This is likely the issue.

From Issue to Argument Identify at least two positions to the issue. Take one position that you can support with evidence from your two primary sources.

Balance the use of evidence from both sources. Format, proofread, and submit the MS Word (.doc or.docx) file to webcourses. I will not grade the assignment if it has not passed through the turnitin system. This means do not use the text option for submission.
