1 Greenleaf designs and manufactures standard and special Ceramic and Carbide Inserts along with supporting Steel Tooling. Founded in 1945 Family owned and operated. 450 + Employees Facilities in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, US Saegertown Pa. Location ISO 9001 since 1994 Sales in 56+ Countries Greenleaf Corp, Saegertown,PA Greenleaf Europe Phone: 800-458-1850 www.greenleafglobalsupport.com

2 The basic concept involves reinforcing a hard ceramic matrix with extremely strong, stiff silicon carbide crystals, commonly called whiskers. These whiskers are grown under carefully controlled conditions and due to their high purity and lack of grain boundaries approach the theoretical maximum strength obtainable. This strength is calculated to be in the order of 1 million P.S.I. (6,900 MPa) tensile. The super-strong whiskers are dispersed into a matrix of fine grained aluminum oxide where they act much like glass filaments do, for example in fiberglass, by adding tensile strength and improving the fracture toughness of the matrix. Whisker Reinforced Ceramic Inserts introduced by Greenleaf WG-300 WG-600 Phone: 800-458-1850 www.greenleafglobalsupport.com WG-300 and WG600 Greenleaf wrote the book on the application of whisker reinforced ceramics

11 Phone: 800-458-1850 www.greenleafglobalsupport.com Use WG-300 and WG-600 to rough: However; use micro grain carbide to semi-finish and finish where cutting speed is limited due to… Machine spindle speed Fixture / set-up Part configuration (thin wall sections) Metallurgical concerns on the finish pass (i.e. high cutting speed may alter work material properties) Use WG-300 and WG-600 to semi-finish and finish: Carbide Grades for High Temp. Alloys

12 G-20M A solid performing uncoated grade for turning… Use where cutting speed is under 100 SFPM (30 m/min) Use with un-honed TF chip form where low tool force is needed G-920 A PVD TiN coated grade with the same basic characteristics of G-20M. The PVD TiN coating provides lubricity for improved chip flow. Use where cutting speed is under 120 SFPM (37 m/min) Use with un-honed TF chip form where low tool force is needed G-925 A high performance PVD TiAlN coated grade. Cutting speed flexibility makes G-925 a consistent performer over a broad range of alloys and is the first choice for turning of Titanium. Can be applied at cutting speeds between 250 (76 m/min) and 300 SFPM (91 m/min). Usually supplied with a light hone but is available with no hone. Can be applied to continuous cuts where extended tool life and a sharp cutting edge is needed. GA-5026 An advanced MT-CVD (TiCN + Al 2 O 3 + TiN) coated grade over a micro-grain substrate. GA-5026 combines the high hot hardness and excellent resistance to cratering of Al203 with the toughness and abrasion resistance of TiCN. Use with cutting speeds up to 300 SFPM (91M/Min).
