Scheduling Updates: Here’s what has been shared this week…

Course Requests On Tuesday, March 15, families had the opportunity to meet with Administration and counselors to ask any pertinent questions concerning course requests for the 2016-17 school year. Course requests were provided and were also made available for pickup in the cafeteria on Thursday and Friday during all lunches Course requests and any desired changes should be returned to Student Services Office no later than 4pm on Monday, March 21, 2016. If families desire to opt INTO or OUT OF an AP or Honors course, a Course Waiver is required.Course Waiver Next round of course requests will go home the week of April 18.

College and Career Academy Beginning August 2016, the Academy of Film Production and the Academy of Aviation Sciences will open as a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) center. Open to high school students in grades 10-12, this new CTE center will allow students to complete a pathway in one year and achieve industry credentials as well as participate in internship and job shadowing opportunities through partnerships with local business partners and post-secondary institutions. Off Campus (transportation provided) Online application and counselor recommendation are due by March 31, 2016. Move On When Ready (MOWR) Formerly known as Dual Enrollment 9 th – 12 th graders may enroll at a two-year, four-year, or technical college and take one or more courses which simultaneously count toward their high school diploma requirements as well as to their college degree. Students may attend college full- or part-time. Various sources are available that cover tuition costs and other expenses. Students should discuss MOWR with their counselor and must apply to the institute and meet residency and minimum GPA plus SAT/ACT requirements to be accepted. Student must apply via Georgia College 411 no later than April 15, 2016. For information, visit www.gacollege411.org.
