Volume Volume – To calculate the volume of a prism, we first need to calculate the area of the BASE of the prism. This is then multiplied by the height of the prism to calculate the volume. l w h We find that: Volume = Area of Base x Height V = B x h

Volume Volume – To calculate the volume of a cylinder, we use the same process. Calculate the area of the circular base (B). A = π r 2 l B

Volume We now know the area of B. To find the volume (V) we can multiply B by the height (h) of the cylinder. Combining the formulas… V = B x h V = π r 2 x h l B
