3. The COSMOS-standard is the first and only harmonized international standard for organic and natural cosmetics, created by several associations and certification bodies. The Brussels-based non-profit association “COSMOS-standard AISBL” was founded by: BDIH (Germany) COSMEBIO (France) ECOCERT GREENLIFE (France) ICEA (Italy) SOIL ASSOCIATION (United Kingdom)

4. Together we stand  for the vast majority of globally certified organic and natural cosmetics (according to our individual standards) 2.000 brands 30.000 finished products 15.000 raw materials  and for a huge potential of harmonization

5. Principles of transition COSMOS-standard came into force in January 2010 and since then products can be certified according to COSMOS-standard. Until the end of 2016, there is no obligation to apply for COSMOS-certification and the individual member standards still can be chosen. Cosmetic products applied for certification after 2016 will be certified exclusively according COSMOS-standard. So 2016 is the last year of the transition-period.
