Apply for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online after Oct.1, 2016 (Need 2015 Income Tax Information) FAFSA provides federal money for eligible families. Also, FAFSA must be completed to activate HOPE Scholarship funds (Financial Aid Workshop in February) 10

Regular HOPE - (Partial Tuition) 3.0 GPA in Academics + 4 courses that meet Rigor Requirements. (See list) Zell Miller HOPE - (100% Tuition) 3.7 GPA in Academics + 1200 combined score on Math and Critical Reading from one test or a 26 composite score on ACT + 4 courses that meet Rigor Requirements. (See list) HOPE Grant - (Partial) Students seeking certificate or diploma from technical college. Zell HOPE Grant – 100% after 1 st semester of college with a 3.5 GPA 11

If participating in Intercollegiate athletics at an NCAA Division I or II institution, student must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.eligibilitycenter.org www.eligibilitycenter.org Suggested that you register junior year. “2.3 or Take a Knee” Odyssey courses not accepted by NCAA. If your student has made up courses outside of NMHS or using Odyssey, please have your counselor look over your transcript. Submit the transcript request forms to Joy Miles, Counseling Office Secretary. 13

GPA is not weighted for colleges or for HOPE scholarship with exception of AP or Dual Enrollment Courses AP/Honors & Dual Enrollment classes are weighted only for the purpose of determining Scholar & Honor graduates, Valedictorian, & Salutatorian. Determined in early spring. 15

May 1st – Decision Day (required to tell college of your decision) Avoid Senioritis – Stay Strong Rescinding admission and scholarship offers Falling grades second semester ▪ Schedule changes (rigorous to less rigorous) ▪ If the student changes his or her schedule, he or she must notify the Office of Undergraduate Admissions immediately in writing. 17
