13 Digital Commons @ New Haven - platform for e-Journals Another feature is the Publishing and Editorial Management software which provides a professional management system to publish journals in –house. Division of Humanities and Social Sciences presented plans to the Advisory Board in November 2015 for a proposed e-Journal which would be open to any UNH student studying humanities and social sciences, not just those majoring those disciplines. The e-journal will have an editorial board led by faculty and a review process in place. The Advisory board approved the creation of the e-Journal for the Undergraduate Research Commons.

14 Undergraduate Research Commons (URC) Undergraduate Research Commons (URC) The URC is a portal showcasing outstanding published works authored by thousands of undergraduate students. The portal was built to provide greater visibility to the exemplary student works that universities and colleges are publishing. You’ll find only publications published by universities and colleges are included. You can browse more than 700 undergraduate research publications including award-winning research, conferences, posters and presentations, fieldwork and class projects, honors theses and capstone projects, creative works, and research papers. The URC is also an index of undergraduate publishing outlets. Students authors can use this tool to find peer-reviewed journals and conferences in their fields of research.

15 Digital Commons @ New Haven – Student Publications Advisory Board heard from Dr. Wranovix, Director of the Honors Program, on the desire to place student publications in Digital Commons @ New Haven. Faculty concerns were raised, especially regarding SURF publications, as to whether this would constitute prior publication in the eyes of some publishers (and it does for some such as Nature and Science) and prematurely releasing data through these SURF projects.
