2. RELAY FOR LIFE LOMPOC FUND THE CURE  Sponsorship (service/material in kind) is responsibility of everyone. Ask business connections that you have so that it is more personal. Make the materials readily available to everyone. Have a generic letter available.  Partnership between American Cancer Society Wig Bank and Pantene Beautiful Lengths program accepts hair donations of 8 inches. The wigs are provided to cancer patients for FREE!  6 Steps to Answering Tough Questions PEOPLE  VolunteerMAtch.com is good for recruiting volunteers  Get information on participants and teams from prior years. This will help you speak intelligently to teams about their history when you recruit them for next year.  Recruit survivors from Nursing Homes. Work with nursing home staff, who may bring them to survivor events and/or Relay. Do a survivor event at the facility.  Reverse Survivor/Caregiver Breakfast – Survivors and caregivers are served a breakfast by Event Volunteers/others. The following week, the survivors and caregivers serve breakfast to those in the medical community who have helped them (they can invite.)  Use social media like Facebook and Nextdoor.com to spread the word about Relay.  Relay Recess – mini Relays for elementary schools (PTAs have done these at schools)  Field Day – mini Relays for middle schools.  Training for Event Leadership Teams can be found at volunteerlearning.cancer.org  Some kids have grown up in Relay and may be interested in forming their own teen teams.

3. They combined this event with Survivor/Caregiver recognition.
