Kids
2
If you’re a baby, you are a kid.
3
If you are two years old,
4
or ten years old,
5
or sixteen years old, then you’re also a kid.
6
But by the time you’re 20 years old, you’re not really a kid anymore.
7
Kids are either boys, who are male,
8
or girls, who are female.
9
Most kids live with their mama and papa, their parents.
10
This girl and boy have the same parents; they’re sister and brother.
11
Kids love their parents and their parents love them.
12
Kids love to play!
13
They like to ride bikes.
14
They like to play on a playground,
15
and with blocks and things like that,
16
and board games,
17
and toy cars,
18
and dolls, and lots of other things!
19
Kids also love to learn!
20
They learn to read,
21
and they learn their numbers,
22
and about history,
23
and plants and animals,
24
and many other important things.
25
When kids get to be three or so, some of them go to preschool.
26
But when they get to be five, they go to regular school.
27
Kids start out in Kindergarten when they are five years old.
28
By the time they are 11 years old, they are in the sixth grade.
29
These kids are in the 12 th grade. They are 17 years old!
30
When you finish 12 th grade, you finish school—you graduate!
31
Some kids study very hard, at home! They are home schooled.
32
Whether you go to school or learn at home, you can play sports.
33
You can be on a baseball team, for example.
34
You can also learn an instrument, like the violin or fiddle!
35
Kids are starting life, and life is a great adventure.
36
But being a kid should be fun, above all! So have fun!
