Raise your hand and wait your turn to speak Follow all directions the first time they are given RESPONSIBLE: Come to class on time, and be prepared with all your materials for class. Complete all assigned tasks. Use Technology at specified times. SAFE: Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself at all times. Our focus this school year will be learning and developing our skills as critical thinkers, speakers and listeners. Our units will include Statistics & Probability, Geometry, The Number System, Expressions and Equations, and Functions. Your appropriate behavior in class assures everyone of an environment conducive to learning. Some possible rewards for continuous appropriate behavior are: intrinsic value (satisfaction of learning), verbal praise, positive note to parents, gryphon bucks and special class activities / privileges. Students will be issued consequences should they choose to not abide by classroom rules and expectations. Examples ofs uch consequences may be: a warning, in-class discipline (bounce, classroom isolation), student conference and/or phone call home, recovery room, referral to the office. Teacher reserves the right to assign punishment based on offense. Late work will be accepted but, there will be a cut off time. Students will be notified in advance of cut off deadlines. Course Description What do I get if I follow class rules? What are the consequences if I don’t follow class rules? What happens if I turn in an assignment late? Where do I go to find important information and assignments? The class website will be your go-to spot for extra help resources, important dates, and information, and documents. What happens if I do not have internet access at home? Students who score below mastery (75%) will be given the opportunity to correct the assignment. It is the student’s responsibility for initiating the correction of the assignment. There will be a procedure to complete a retest that will be discussed in class at a later date. The higher of the two grades (up to 75% mastery) will count. What happens if I fail an assignment? There will be computer lab hours at the school before/afterschool. You may also make arrangements with Ms. Ward for other options.. Lastly see Ms. Ward for options of locations that have free Wi-Fi in the area.

Parents and students are also strongly encouraged to check the Parent Portal on a consistent basis to view the most current grades for EVERY class. What do I do if I am absent? In the case of absence, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. All missed assignments will be available from the teacher. If you missed any notes, you can get those to copy from another student or the teacher. Do not copy notes missed or complete work missed while in class. The make-up work school policy is located in the student handbook. Do I have to complete assignments outside of class? All students will be expected to complete any homework, any assigned incomplete classwork, and ALEKS. Students will complete “homework quizzes” based on homework assignments. When assignments are given they should be recorded in students agenda. What are our daily procedures? Entering the Classroom: You are expected to enter the room quietly and immediately start working on the warm-up by yourself. Being Prepared: You are to bring your warm up-notebook, a classwork notebook, folder and a writing utensil to class EVERYDAY. Sharpening Pencils: If you need to sharpen your pencils, this must be done before class. Disposing of Trash: You may throw trash away at the end of class upon leaving the room. Bathroom/Locker/Nurse Passes: During a break in instruction, raise your hand to get the teacher’s attention. During the Mini-Lesson: You are expected to pay attention and take notes as directed throughout the mini-lesson. If you have a question, raise your hand. During Whole Group discussion: All activities except for listening should be suspended. During Independent Work: All attention should be focused on completing the independent work. Students are expected to remain on task. During Group/Pair Work: Students are to remain on task, be respectful of others opinions, and use low voices. Use of Technology: You are allowed to use personal on BYOT or under teacher directive. Any phones out not at the previous mentioned times will be taken. End of Class Dismissal: Students will be dismissed by the teacher NOT the bell! No packing should take place until the teacher has dismissed. The expectations for the first 9 weeks is to complete a minimum of 44 topics.
