Year-long Life Science required course that emphasizes: Cell biology Botany Anatomy (form & function) Genetics Evolution DNA Physics (light & sound waves) Health/family life curriculum. Students will engage in hands-on, inquiry- based learning activities and labs.

We offer math courses designed to meet the varying needs and abilities of our 7 th grade students. ◦ Middle School Math 7 ◦ Middle School Enhanced Math 7/8 Students will be recommended to the appropriate math course based on district-set criteria.

Students read various genres of fiction and non-fiction and work on understanding and employing the different components of a structured essay GATE students are placed in a class designed with appropriate depth and complexity for their needs.

Reading and writing skills are emphasized as students learn about World History. Students examine primary and secondary resources to better understand the material as they work to support their own claim.

Coed classes that include both 7th and 8th graders. Students “dress out” into P.E. clothes daily. Students encouraged to participate and improve at his/her ability level. After a full introduction to basic skills and the major components of fitness the students are provided an exposure to a variety of sports units.

Extended Day PE (Zero Period PE) is for students enrolled in a year long elective who want to take an additional trimester-long elective. Registration forms were given to each child by his/her elementary teacher. Everything must be filled out and submitted by Friday, May 6 th to your child’s 6 th grade teacher. There is a suggested donation of $540 for the year or $180 per trimester. Donations will be refunded if your child is not admitted to the class. Please note that EDPE is VERY popular and that in year’s past we have taken NO MORE than ten 7 th graders. Priority is given to 8 th graders. All seventh graders enter a lottery for the available spots.

Please complete the enrollment card in its entirety, following the directions at the top. Make sure to fill out and submit the EDPE forms if you want to be placed in the lottery. Staple the enrollment card to this form. Turn in enrollment documents to your sixth grade teacher by May 6th. ONLY If you are a school choice student, you may turn your card into the Rancho Front Office. Please know: Due to the constraints of the master schedule and class size concerns, administration cannot and will not honor requests for specific teachers.
