4 APA Format/In-Text Citations If you are paraphrasing an idea from another work, you only have to make reference to the author and year of publication in your in-text reference, but APA guidelines encourage you to also provide the page number (although it is not required.) “According to Jones (1998), APA style is a difficult citation format for first-time learners. 9 Opening Discussion You work for a factory that produces widgets. The factory employs 1000 people. Overweight/obesity costs a good deal of money from insurance/medical expenses, absenteeism and presenteeism. You have been tasked to design a voluntary weight loss program available to all employees. The population is diverse: 600 assembly plant operators, 100 truck drivers, 200 support staff, 100 upper level management. 1. What kind of program would you design? How would you make it universally appealing? 2. Using the 4 Ps, how would you market your new program?

10 Seminar Question 1 Think about adult cigarette smoking behavior. What can your program give adults in exchange for quitting smoking?

11 Seminar Question 2 What are some nontraditional channels of delivery that could be used for smoking adults in your community or in a worksite in your community?

12 Field Trip! Search the web and find a local nonprofit in your community dedicated to improving an area of public health. What is one of their stated objectives?
