Math is required, but why do I need it? (or “when will I ever use this stuff?”) Mathematics is about using your brain in a way that is different than you use it for most other classes. Problem solving is the number one skill set employers will be looking for as your son/daughter enters the work force, regardless of their field. A rigorous study in mathematics is critical to acceptance into most colleges.

Kansas Board of Regents Entrance Requirements for Kansas Public Universities Graduate High School with… 3 math credits (Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II or higher) AND score a 22 (or higher) on the ACT. OR 4 math credits (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and one class where Algebra II is a prerequisite)

Freshman Year Pre-Algebra Algebra I Geometry Honors Geometry Honors Algebra II (accelerated students)

Pre-Algebra For students who are not quite ready for Algebra 1.

AlgebraI For students who need continued work on their Algebra skills; Students will graduate with Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and Advanced Algebra (College Algebra) or Pre Calculus; Calculator: Scientific or TI NSpire.

Geometry For those students with strong Algebra skills; Rigorous course in its own right; Will graduate after taking Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus or Calculus; Technology: TI Nspire and Geometer’s Sketchpad.

Honors Geometry For those students with exceptional Algebra skills; Should be taken if student has a desire for higher-level mathematics; Rigorous course – take it for that reason; Technology: TI Nspire and Geometer’s Sketchpad.
