Current Enrollment – 821 Students in Grades 9-12 Largest High School West of North Platte – 200 miles SHS has a history of success with the rich programming we are able to offer: AP and dual credit courses, outstanding career and technical educational programs, state championship caliber athletic and activity programs, dynamic fine arts programs 46% of our students qualify for free/reduced meals

Huge connection with the community: 21 different partners for DECA projects Josten workshops (involve 60-70 students from area schools) Valley Voices - Concerts Tabor Dance Academy – Recitals Federation Wrestling practices and tournaments Junior Bearcat Basketball practices and tournaments 23 Club field partnership with city of Scottsbluff and SBPS Graduation ceremony for Frontier School of the Bible Special Olympic events Meeting room use Auditorium use – Old West Choir fest and others Gym use – FCA and other organizations

Challenges facing SHS : High Mobility Rate – 17.6% at SHS compared to 11.8% across the State. Students will come and go at a variety of different times, not always at natural breaks. Increasing population of students with behavioral mental health issues.

Developing and Implementing “Choices” Providing Algebra everyday to students that have previously failed. Participating as a pilot school in the NDE Teacher/Principal evaluation development Developing and Implementing learning guides with fidelity Testing – Focusing on preparation and making sure all students are NeSA and ACT ready

Allison Stricker National Merit Semifinalist Selected as a candidate for U.S. Presidential Scholars Program SHS DECA program- A record 18 students placed at this year’s District Conference. SHS Mock Trial Team place first at regionals and competed in the state competition. Echoes Newspaper and Bluff Yearbook both received the Cornhusker Award (NE High School Press Association’s highest honor.)

Terrisita Klemm – Chosen as the 1 st place winner in the 6 th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest. Matthew Mickey – Performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. 13 Vocal Music Students selected to NMEA All-State Chorus. 2 SHS Students selected to NMEA All-State Band

SHS Girls Golf Team 3 rd Place in District Tournament Kim Moore – 11 th Place at State - Individual SHS Football Team won their 3 rd consecutive district title and had an undefeated regular season SHS Boys Basketball Coach Tony Siske was named the 2012 Coach of the Year by the Nebraska Basketball Coaches Association FFA Junior Parlimentary Procedure Team placed 1 st at District Leadership Skills Event Contest SHS Football Coach Joe Benson was named an assistant coach for the North team in the 2013 Shrine Bowl
