DRAFT Discovering and rating journals Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is a database which allows you to view lists of journals in various disciplinesJournal Citation Reports The database also allows you to rate these journals according to various criteria Task: use JCR to find out which journal in the Education & Educational Research subject category is the highest rated according to impact factor 6

DRAFT Search Strategy Think about the terms you use Are there alternative phrases? Use truncation and wildcard symbols (*, ?) Link search terms: AND, NOT to narrow OR to broaden Use “quotation marks” to search for phrases Search for both UK and US spelling Use brackets to organise your search e.g.: “virtual learning” AND (“further education” OR “higher education”) 7
