Project Scope 275 Apartments of extra care housing for older people (7 schemes) 58 Apartments for people with learning disabilities (9 clusters of apartments) 7 Apartments for people with mental health problems Spread across 10 Districts and 12 sites £72 million funding - PFI Credits

Definition Extra Care Sheltered Housing: –24 hour on site care team –many 2-bed apartments –a restaurant –communal lounges –gym facilities –treatment rooms

Standards Equipped for Assistive Technology DDA Compliant and meet HC’s frail elderly standards Easily adaptable apartments

For LD & MH Clusters of flats for 7 people 8th flat for staff/communal use In some cases on the same site as ECSH

Private Finance Initiative Long term risk sharing relationship between public and private sectors Typically 30 year contracts - costed on ‘whole life’ basis Public sector specifies outputs Private sector designs, builds, finances and operates asset
