5 Power Sander safety The Margin of Safety for your fingers:
Keep your fingers at least 2”inches away from the abrasive belt or disc.

6 The Safety Zone for the operator:
Power Sander safety The Safety Zone for the operator: Stay an arm’s reach away from the person using the power sander.

7 Do not turn off the machine if someone else is also using it.
Power Sander safety Do not turn off the machine if someone else is also using it. But, if you are the only operator, then shut it off when you are done.

8 Power Sander safety Always wear safety glasses when using this power tool. Safety glasses are in the grey tool cabinet. Wear them also if you are standing in line.

9 Power Sander safety Remove jewelry, and confine loose clothing and long hair. Remove long and dangly jewelry and put it in your pocket. Roll up loose or baggy shirt sleeves. Tuck in hood ties for sweatshirts. Long hair must not be left loose.

10 Power Sander safety Sand on the side of the disc that spins downward

11 Power Sander safety Keep fingers away from the table edge and abrasive.

12 Power Sander safety Do not wear gloves to hold your project when sanding. - Gloves that get caught by the abrasive can pull fingers into the machine.

13 Power Sander safety Never use a belt or disc that is ripped.
Let Mr. B know so it can be replaced.

14 Power Sander safety Do not start the machine with your board against the abrasive. - Keep your project back a little from the sanding belt or disc when powering up.

15 Power Sander safety Use the power sander to polish and remove up to 1/8” of material. - Use the bandsaw to cut / remove large amounts of material (over 1/8”).

16 Power Sander safety Too much pressure can create “burn marks” on the board. Use light pressure on the board Let the board cool and sand again
