Reading, ELA and Math: A minimum of 12 grades (3 major grades and 9 daily grades) per nine weeks grading period in Reading, English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math is required. Science and Social Studies: Science and Social Studies will be reported as a numerical average based on a minimum of nine (9) grades including content and processes per the nine weeks grading period. There will be 3 major and 6 daily grades in these subject areas. Grades for each grading period must reflect the student’s mastery of the District curriculum objectives, which are aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Major Grades will count as 50 percent of the student’s grading period average. Daily Grades will count as 50 percent of the student’s grading period average. Reteaching Reteaching will occur when students make below a 75% on a major grade assessment. Retesting Retesting will be offered to students who make below a 75% on an assessment after reteaching has occurred. The highest grade earned by the student (no higher than a 75) will be recorded after the retest.

English/Language Arts (ELA) English/Language Arts will be reported as a numerical average based on a minimum of 12 grades and the recommended number of grades in each category for daily grades is as follows: Writing Process4-5 grades Grammar and Punctuation3-4 grades Spelling1+ grade Listening/Speaking1+ grade Reading Reading will be reported as a numerical average based on a minimum of 12 grades and the recommended number of grades in each category for daily grades is as follows: Comprehension4-5 grades Genre Analysis3-4 grades Vocabulary2-3 grades Math Numeracy 4-6 Grades Problem-Solving 4-6 Grades

Focuses on organizational skills and teaches responsibility and accountability Reinforces skills learned in the classroom First missing or unacceptable assignment per nine weeks results in an “oops” in the Tuesday Folder Subsequent missing assignments will be noted with an “S,” “N” or “U” in that same category Students are not allowed back on campus to retrieve homework Students have the opportunity to complete unacceptable or missing work during lunch.

Expectations: Listen and follow directions the first time given. Respect everyone and their property. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Be a responsible student by: 1)Returning your homework 2)Completing assignments on time 3)Telling the truth 4)Bringing your supplies 5)Returning your Tuesday folder on Wednesday 6)Being prepared to learn Rewards: Ticket system-ability to purchase reward of your choice Navigator notice-caught doing something good by a teacher Class Compliment- class earns reward Consequences: 1 st Offense: Verbal warning 2 nd Offense: “S” on the Tuesday folder 3 rd Offense: “N” on Tuesday folder 4 th Offense: Call home to parent 5 th Offense: Principal’s office Severe Clause: Some actions do result in immediate “N” and/or, office referral.

Weekly Progress Sheet needs to be signed by a parent or guardian each week Exceeds expectations = no mark or special comment from the teacher Meets Standards = S Needs Improvement = N (2-S in an area during the same week) Unsatisfactory = U (3 or more marks in an area) Math and ELA teachers collaborate to assess weekly work habits and classroom conduct

FBISD Truancy Policy was sent home with the first day of school packet. Students should be in their seats at 8:10 a.m. Tardies are being tracked and will be reflected on Tuesday Folders and report cards. Five Unexcused Tardies or Early Pick-Ups will result in an “N” in the area for Follows School Rules on their report card.. Attendance is taken at 10:00 a.m. daily. If your child is absent, ALWAYS SEND A NOTE THE WITHIN FIVE DAYS. The student is required to make up all classroom work or assignments.

Standard route home: Students must have a standard route home. Without written notice from the parent, the child will be sent home the standard way. Parents are asked not to call the school to give information about how a child is to get home unless an emergency. Changes will not be accepted after 2:00 p.m. No student pick-up after 2:45.

Student Deliveries: Deliveries to students are discouraged including homework, snacks, water, sweaters, coats, lunches, etc… Birthday Policy: Birthday treats such as balloons, flowers, and other celebration items are not allowed in the classrooms. All deliveries will be kept in the front office until after school when the student can come by and pick it up. Cupcakes or individual cookies (not cookie cakes) are allowed outside the cafeteria at teacher designated time. Parents are not allowed to serve or participate in the birthday treats activity. Please email the teacher in advance. Dress Code: Shorts must be at mid-thigh, no excessively tight or baggy clothing, thong-type sandals are not permitted, hats and caps shall not be worn in school, no halter tops or thin straps, and tennis shoes must be worn for P.E. Phone Use: Students are only allowed to call home in case of emergency. Students are not allowed to use cell phones or mobile devices except for instructional purposes. They will be taken by an administrator for all policy infractions and a $15 return fee will be charged. Academic Excellence in Reading, Math, Writing, Science, and/or Social Studies: Students with a 93 or above average for the year in that subject area Academic Achievement in Reading, Math, Writing, Science, and/or Social Studies: Students who have shown significant improvement in reading, math, writing, science Perfect Attendance Award: Students with zero absences Perfect Attendance in Elementary: Students with zero absences since kindergarten 40 Book Challenge: Students who have completed and returned their SCE Reads log of reading 40 books from specific genres AB Honor Roll: Students who made the AB honor roll for each grading period Student Council: Students who participate in Student Council Yearbook: Student who help create the SCE Yearbook Spelling Bee: Students who participate in the school wide spelling bee Safety Patrol / Flag Patrol: Students who volunteer for Safety Patrol / Flag Patrol Choir: Students who participle in afterschool choir GATR News: Students who participate in morning announcements on GATR News Outstanding Athlete: Based on criteria set by PE coaches
